Bemidji Dragon Boat Festival

Hello everyone! Not a whole lot to say today, I had a chance to get out to the Dragon Boat Festival on saturday and took some images. What a fun day for all the crews. The rain stayed away and it turned out to be a good day for racing! The winning team came out of Canada this year and they’ve had quite a run over the last few years with some third place finished and some second place finishes, but never first. So congratulations to the River City crew.

Bemidji Buy Line

I was out in the alleyways this last week doing some portrait work for the portfolio. We ended up next to a bright green wall and decided to incorporate it into some of the images. It just so happens that this wall is right behind the Bemidji Buy Line. While we were shooting the staff came out and talked to us a little bit and may run one of the photos in this saturdays buyline. So keep your eyes peeled!

The shot itself is a pretty simple setup. I used my Canon 430exII flash through a cheetah stand softbox from camera left to give the loop lighting pattern on my subjects face and to throw the shadow onto the wall behind her. I hope you enjoy the image and maybe you’ll see it in the paper this week.
