Week 3: Artistic Red
We have reached week 3 in our 52 week photography challenge! The challenge this week was artistic red, that leave a very wide interpretation and I decided that I would like to keep true to my nature as a portrait photographer and do a fun portrait session. I got started in portrait photography around 9 years ago and immediately fell in love with it and haven’t looked back since.
The goal of taking on the 52 week challenge itself, for me, was to push myself to put together photoshoots on days where I would normally sit in front of the computer editing. To accomplish this photo I had to get out of bed at 6am to shovel off a good size portion on Lake Bemidji so that we had enough room for the skater to maneuver.
It was a very surreal morning with a misty fog hanging over the lake that gave the feel of the image just a little bit extra. We had to keep the session fairly short as the wind was blowing and it was getting kind of chilly for Abby.
I used a very simple one light setup, 1-400 Watt strobe with a 12x24inch strip bank to camera right. Camera was a Canon 5dMk III with a Canon 24-70mm 2.8L lens.
